This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Karachi.

The department was established on 10th August 1956. The department was the first institution after the Independence to offer Library and Information Science course at the University level. Since than it has played a leading role in establishing library education in Pakistan.

The department is dedicated to educating individuals in the competencies needed for traditional and emerging careers in librarianship. For over 50 years, the department has educated individuals to work in libraries, information agencies, and other information professions in and across Pakistan.

To celebrate the Golden Jubilee we wish to invite all the individuals who have been associated with the department. Let us celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year with zeal and thank God for becoming a part of it.
